Julia Doornbos is a cultural geographer and works as a lecturer and postdoctoral researcher at University College Groningen and the Faculty of Spatial Sciences, both University of Groningen, the Netherlands. Her doctoral research centered around the postcolonial everyday geographies of Indo-European families in the Netherlands. Aside from academic output, she worked together with the families from the research to write a book, as a collection of their histories and experiences. Julia’s research interests tend to revolve around everyday places and experiences of in- and exclusion; senses of belonging; memory work; postcolonialism, diaspora and (forced) migration.
